We're expanding into new markets across Europe, establishing new stations, and maintaining our steadfast ambition to lead the way in fossil-free fuels. At Biofuel Express, reducing emissions isn't just a goal – it's our ongoing commitment to building a fossil-free future for generations to come.
Biofuel Express is approved by the Science Based Targets initiative.
Undeniably, climate change is real and one of the greatest challenges for mankind and it is urgent to adhere to climate science. At the same time, we do not expect anyone to change as long as corporations do nothing. Because of this, Biofuel Express felt a responsibility to join the most ambitious climate action-taking companies through the Science Based Target initiative.
Biofuel Express set science-based targets in March 2023 and they have now been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This means that Biofuel Express now is one of over 4,000 companies worldwide setting emissions reduction targets grounded in the latest climate science. The SBTi promotes best practice in science-based target setting and they will validate Biofuel Express’ progress towards its long-term targets on a yearly basis.
Biofuel Express commits to reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions 42% by 2030 from a 2020 base year, and to measure and reduce its Scope 3 emissions in the same timeframe. Biofuel Express has also committed to a science-based long-term target of a 90% absolute emissions reduction from the same 2020 base year by 2045. As a result, Biofuel Express can now ensure that our climate action is in line with the latest climate science. By reducing our direct and indirect CO2 emissions throughout the value chain, Biofuel Express leads the way by working towards the 1.5-degree target defined in the Paris Agreement.
At Biofuel Express, we work continuously to optimise and improve, not only in relation to our ISCC-certified products, but also internally in the company. In order to maintain a common goal, several of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals have been selected, which serve as additional focus points in the organisation.
Affordable and clean energy
Biofuel Express’ core values are built on reducing emissions at competitive prices. Outside the organisation Biofuel Express also supports renewable energy sources. In addition to focusing on the expansion of our own renewable products, the company has also invested in Bluetown, which is a project working on increasing the standard of living in developing countries by spreading the Internet through solarpowered WIFI stations.
Biofuel Express will continue its work on making fossil-free products available and to support renewable energy everywhere.
Sustainable cities and communities
It’s important that the company can vouch for the products sold and the raw materials used. Therefore, palm oil has been phased out as feedstock in the offered biofuel products. Waste and residues will fill up more and more, in regard to gradually getting better utilisation of resources. Research into new technologies, reducing greenhouse gases and particles will provide improved and optimised solutions and tools. This benefits both the environment and the climate.
Responsible consumption and production
At the Biofuel Express stations we are very deliberate about optimising our operations and reducing emissions where possible. Specifically, the company supports biodiversity in the local areas through vegetation, and the fuel stations use the latest technology in LED-lighting, which consists of advanced, sensor-controlled lighting systems, that conserve energy when activity is low. It is not only about reducing costs, but also about reducing energy consumption for the benefit of the climate. In addition, we place particular emphasis on high-quality solutions at our stations as well as maintenance, so the replacement of equipment is less.
Climate action
Biofuel Express has made demands of our carriers. We take responsibility for our own supply chain by requiring our carriers to reduce emissions. Therefore, our transporters run primarily on our own fossil free diesel, which reduces CO2 emissions by up to 90% compared to regular fossil diesel.
