Built for facilities where downtime is not an option

Data centres operate under a different set of rules to most industries. Backup power has to work the first time, every time, and increasingly it also has to answer to sustainability targets that did not exist a few years ago.

As sustainability reporting requirements expand and Scope 1 emissions come under closer scrutiny, the fuel sitting in your backup generators has quietly become a board-level question.

Biofuel Express already supplies HVO100 renewable diesel to data centre operators across our European markets, ranging from single-site facilities to hyperscale campuses. We know that switching fuel cannot mean compromising on reliability, so every recommendation we make starts with your continuity requirements and works backwards from there.

Why data centre operators choose HVO100

Continuity Without Compromise

HVO100 operates under the same conditions as fossil diesel, so your backup power remains ready when it really matters.

Lower Scope 1 Emissions

Switching to HVO100 can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90% compared to fossil diesel, giving your sustainability team a verifiable, reportable reduction in direct emissions for CSRD and Net Zero targets.

Zero Infrastructure Changes

HVO100 is a drop-in replacement for diesel. No new tanks, no generator modifications, no commissioning delays. The switch happens at the fuel, not at the facility.

Supply You Can Rely On

We already deliver to data centre operators at scale across Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany, and Austria, backed by Neste, a global leader in renewable fuel production.

The pressures facing data centre owners today

Whether you manage a single facility or a portfolio of sites, the challenges tend to look similar: ageing diesel supply contracts that say nothing about emissions, and sustainability reporting requirements that are tightening faster than most fuel suppliers can keep up with.

Resilience & Supply Security
Your backup power is your last line of defence. We plan fuel supply around your continuity requirements, not the other way around, with direct delivery options that remove single points of failure from your fuel chain.

ESG & Regulatory Pressure
EED, CSRD, and Fit for 55 are tightening requirements around energy efficiency, sustainability reporting, and emissions data. For backup power, this means growing demands to document and substantiate the fuel's climate and sustainability performance. HVO100 gives you a documented reduction in emissions, with Proof of Sustainability as the basis for reporting, audits, and investor scrutiny.

Scale Without Disruption
From a single standby generator to a multi-site European portfolio, the switch to HVO100 requires no commissioning downtime and no engineering sign-off beyond your existing fuel specification.

Key features

Renewable Feedstocks

HVO100 is produced from waste and residue materials such as used cooking oil and animal fats, supporting circular economy principles without relying on virgin feedstock.

Proven at Hyperscale

We already supply HVO100 to data centre operators ranging from regional facilities to hyperscale campuses owned by global companies, giving you a partner with direct sector experience, not a generic fuel supplier entering the market cold.

In partnership with Neste

HVO100 is supplied as Neste MY Renewable Diesel, produced by Neste, a global leader in renewable fuels. You are not relying on an unproven product; you are relying on a proven one, delivered locally.

Verified Emissions Reporting

Every delivery comes with full Proof of Sustainability documentation, giving your sustainability and compliance teams the audit trail they need without extra administrative burden.

Biofuel Express Insight
Sustainability Made Easy

Biofuel Express Insight presents easy overview of fuel consumption, full sustainability transparency and documentation with just a few clicks.

Its purpose is to provide full insight and thereby work as a tool to reduce their climate impact, as well as document the achieved CO2 savings. In this way, your data centre can meet the increased environment and climate requirements of today and in the future:

  • Follow the CO2 reductions
  • Track fuel consumption
  • Download Sustainability reports
  • Insight into raw materials and its origin

Frequently asked questions

Does switching to HVO100 require generator modifications?

No. HVO100 is a certified drop-in replacement for fossil diesel and works in existing standby generators without any engineering changes.

How much can HVO100 reduce our Scope 1 emissions?

HVO100 can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90% compared to fossil diesel, depending on feedstock and usage, with figures backed by Proof of Sustainability documentation for audit and reporting purposes.

Do you already supply data centres, or is this a new offering?

We already supply HVO100 to data centre operators across Europe, including facilities owned by global technology and infrastructure companies, ranging from single-site operations to hyperscale campuses.

What markets do you currently serve?

Our core markets are Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany, and Austria, where we offer direct delivery and bulk fuel equipment installation. If you operate outside these markets, contact us to discuss whether supply is possible for your location.

Are HVO and biodiesel (FAME) the same kind of fuel?

No, and the difference matters for your equipment. HVO100 is chemically very close to standard diesel, which is why it works as a drop-in replacement with no tank, generator, or engine modifications.

FAME biodiesel is a different type of fuel altogether, and typically comes with blend limits and material compatibility checks before it can be used. If you're looking for a straightforward switch with no equipment changes, that's specifically what HVO100 offers.

Is it possible to switch from HVO to diesel and diesel to HVO?

Yes. HVO100 and fossil diesel are fully miscible, so you can switch between them, or blend them, without draining or flushing your tanks first.

This gives you flexibility if local supply conditions change, and means there's no risk to your generators if you ever need to top up with standard diesel in an emergency.
